Produced by the team at Wild Rumpus CIC in collaboration with the National Trust, as part of the Big Blooming Break—a nationwide celebration of blossom, seasonal change and the joy it brings.
Each spring, blossom spills into streets, parks and hedgerows, reminding us that winter is loosening its hold and something brighter is on its way. Familiar and fleeting, it’s a sign of resilience and shared hope unfolding in real time.
At Tony Wilson Place, Let Hope Blossom transforms this feeling into a playful, living soundscape and bright blossoming installation. At its heart is the Pavilion of Hope, a vibrant, physical space filled with artists, characters and wandering “blossom collectors” inviting the public to take part.
Visitors can share voice notes, small fragments of thought, humour, memory or hope, which are gathered both in person and from across the UK via WhatsApp. These messages are woven into an evolving collective chorus, echoing out across the square as a joyful expression of shared possibility.Alongside this, bold, sun-drenched billboards bloom across the space, carrying messages of renewal, imagination and optimism.
The result is a shifting landscape of sound and image: a celebration of voice, connection and the powerful ways hope travels between people.
If you can’t join in person, you can still take part. Send a message of hope via WhatsApp voice note to 0800 222 9322 and add your voice to the growing national archive.
